Netflix has announced that it is teaming up with The Pokémon Company to create a brand new Pokémon TV show.
Revealed as part of Pokémon Day, celebrated annually on February 27, the world’s top streaming service announced Pokemon janitora stop-motion animated series that will one day appear on its platform.
Accompanying the announcement was a 30-second teaser trailer, which shows fan-favorite Pokémon Psyduck waddling along a sun-drenched beach as a voiceover — from series protagonist Haru — hints at the show’s premise. In a press release, Netflix provided a brief description of what the show will be about. Expanding the Pokémon world, the story follows Haru, a caretaker at the Pokémon Resort, and her interactions with Pokémon and their owners who visit as guests.
Okay, that’s not much to go on, but it sounds like Pokemon janitor will be the perfect summer vacation for all Pokémon fans, wherever they live in the world. With its beautiful animation style and calming tone, we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being used as a replacement for people’s meditation practices and/or fondness for ASMR. If we can check in with Pokémon Legendary characters, such as Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, the pair will no longer be appearing on the main Pokémon TV show after Ash finally achieves his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master.okay, janitor will only delight us more.
Little else is known about it Pokemon janitorbut dwarf studios – a Japan-based animation studio, whose work includes stop-motion shows based on Domo-Kun And Komaneko – is leading in the development of the TV series.

Unsurprisingly, no release date has been announced yet. The teaser simply states that the series is “coming soon”. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before we can visit the resort albeit from the comfort of our own home. Don’t be surprised if it also lands on our list of the best Netflix shows once it’s released.
In a statement released as part of Netflix’s press release, Minyoung Kim, vice president of Netflix Content in Asia, said: “Netflix looks forward to delighting fans in Japan and around the world with Pokemon janitoran all-new visual and narrative experience featuring groundbreaking stop-motion animation set in the Pokémon world in close collaboration with The Pokémon Company.
